Derek & Beth — Forever Family

Dear Friend,

Hello from tiny, Rhode Island! We are Beth and Derek. We met and became friends while working together at a community mental health center in 1998. We fell in love a few years later and tied the knot in 2004. Our wedding was a little different than most. We got married in a small, backyard ceremony on a Saturday and "partied" at the reception with our extended families on Sunday.

Our relationship is filled with lots of joking and laughter. A day never goes by where we don't make each other laugh at least once. We have a little Boston Terrier named Callie who is very loveable and great with our nieces and nephews. We have close relationships with our parents and sibling. We usually see either set of parents weekly, Derek's sibling monthly, and Beth's brother at least a couple of times a year. Everyone in our immediate family, except for Beth's brother, live within 15 miles of each other. They are all very supportive of us and are ready to welcome a child into the family with open arms.

We live in a suburban neighborhood. There are a lot of kids in the area, a park and sports complex across the street, and an elementary school only two blocks away. We have a large yard that overlooks the track and football field. Every summer, there is a music and craft festival across the street from our home. We usually have a yearly cookout with friends and family and watch the 4th of July fireworks that are set off from the football field.

In our spare time, we enjoy going to movies, reading, going to concerts, and walking the dog. Derek loves sports. Although we live in Rhode Island, Derek likes teams from all over the country. His favorite teams are the Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Seahawks, and the Philadelphia Flyers. This means that our children will be wearing a lot of team jerseys! Beth enjoys going to craft shows, making soap, cooking, and yoga.

Although we have full lives, we can't wait for a child to make our family complete. We have always wanted children but have been unable to conceive due to fertility issues. We have always seen adoption as a wonderful way to create a family. We can't wait to love, nurture, and care for a child. Reading, sports, creativity, playing and extended family will be a big part our children's lives.

We realize that we have no way of understanding your feelings and the enormity of your decision. But, we are truly thankful to you for considering adoption. We hope that you will consider us as a caring couple who could give your child a wonderful, loving home.

Best wishes and take care,

Derek & Beth
